Meet Our ISA Certified Arborists

Dean A. Davis Cert. # WE-8600A

Dean is a Humboldt forester who studied forest insects, diseases, and genetics in the early 1970s. In May of 2008, Dean retired from a career with the US Forest Service after 34 years on the Klamath National Forest, and joined the A Cut Above Tree Service, Inc. Team. Dean’s experience includes tree climbing, conifer selection and breeding, disease resistance evaluation and development, in addition to 30 years of conifer orchard management. He has mastered tree establishment, fertilization, irrigation, diagnosis, grafting, culture and protection, and was responsible for the care and precise tracking of nearly 100,000 trees. Dean is a published author of several peer reviewed scientific papers investigating genetic disease resistance to white pine blister rust in our native local five needle pines. The sugar pine program is established and successful largely due to Dean’s dedicated efforts. He helped initiate similar programs in western white pine, foxtail pine, and white bark pine across the Pacific Southwest Region. Dean is a certified arborist recognized by the International Society of Arboriculture and a great addition to our A Cut Above Family.
